Magic number:9

September 16, 2006

Coupled with the Cincinnati Reds’ loss to the Cubs this afternoon, the Cardinals’ magic number is down to nine after today’s victory over the Giants in St. Louis.

Tomorrow’s matchup will be Weaver against Sanchez in the series finale in St. Louis and the end of a six-game homestand.

Remaining series:

Sept 18-20 @Milwaukee

Sept. 21-24 @ Houston

Sept. 25-27 San Diego

Sept. 28-Oct. 1- Milwaukee

My own belief is that the Cardinals will more than likely clinch in Houston or even better, clinch at home against the Padres on the 25th, unless if the Cardinals win nine in a row and the Reds lose nine in a row, which is very unlikely because the Padres themselves are in a dogfight of their own in the NL West.

I also have some Separation Saturday scores to pass along as well:

Michigan 47 Notre Dame 21

Auburn 7 LSU 3

Oregon  34 Oklahoma  33

Buckeye Wrap-Up: Ohio State 37 Cincinnati 7
